The Tragic Little Mermaid

Those who do not know Hans Christian Andersen's original story of The Little Mermaid are probably like, "Wtf? Why's Ariel on a cliff, and the dagger? What's with this fuckery!?"

Well, in the true story,

She jumps into the ocean to ultimately kill herself after she goes to kill the prince, which she can't do.

[lol, go look it up, that was an awful sum up of the end]

Depressing story.
Nothing like our lovely Disney version
[I am so not knocking the Disney version, it's my favorite Disney movie]

Anyway, I think this is off because she jumped off a boat or something in the true story.
Oh well.

And yes, she is supposed to look like the Disney Ariel.
Why?
Just because I wanted to, I guess.
No real reason.

Why is she slightly smiling?
Well, I know she was sad beyond belief that the prince loved another and she gave up her family for him and even her soul; however, I don't think she regretted it.
She loved him that much.
Sigh.
That's just my interpretation.
